This school is a specialist SEN school in Royston, Hertfordshire, committed to providing high-quality education and support for students aged 6 to 19 with a range of Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and associated difficulties. Position: Learning Support Assistant

The SEN school are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of our students and contribute to their academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, including those with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and associated difficulties

Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) to meet the specific needs of each student

Support students with their academic work, including literacy, numeracy, and life skills development

Encourage and promote independence, self-confidence, and positive social interactions among students

Assist with personal care and physical support as required, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all students

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, preferably in an educational setting

Understanding of the needs of students with MLD, SLD, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and associated difficulties

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with SEN

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential)
