Early Years Foundation Stage – Update & Strategies

​This one day course refreshes key Early Years Foundation Stage skills and brings you up to date with the latest EYFS framework. It suits colleagues returning after time away, those who mainly teach Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 and want to add Early Years work, and staff already working in early years. It is designed for nursery assistants, teaching assistants, cover supervisors and teachers.

Course Overview

You start with the latest Overarching Principles, the unique child, positive relationships, enabling environments, and learning and development. From there you look at current statutory and teacher assessment requirements.

Promoting positive behaviour comes next, with expectations and management strategies explored through activities that help you discuss the behaviours you will meet in day to day and longer term placements. A section on challenging behaviours gives you practical strategies to manage them.

Play is a real opportunity to develop learning and understanding, and you will look at its importance and at strategies you can use in outdoor areas. The day closes with an update on the latest safeguarding guidance so every child is safe in your setting.

As with all our courses, you receive resources to make the training more effective in practice.
