Our updated one day course helps existing and new teaching assistants, including those without much relevant experience, understand and respond to the demands created by the focus on inclusion in the 2026 White Paper. As the push for inclusion takes effect, more children with significant educational needs, some previously supported in alternative provision, will complete their education in mainstream classrooms.
The course covers:
Safer working practices
Inclusion TA role definition, qualities and skills
Removing barriers to learning
Expectations and assertiveness
Behaviour management, including an introduction to ADHD, autism, SEMH and de-escalation
Summary
It is an important update for existing TAs, who will be expected either to help teachers keep more children who present challenging behaviours in class for longer, or to work as part of one of the new SEND and social, emotional and mental health hubs being created in schools.
You must complete Simply Education's online safeguarding tutorial before attending.
Before You Book
Please ensure you can attend the full course from a private, quiet space, remain on camera throughout, and join with a device that has a working microphone, front-facing camera, and stable internet connection. Your correct name must be visible on screen at all times. If you're unable to fully participate or meet these requirements, please rebook, as certification may be withheld.

If you haven't received it by the start of the week in which the training takes place, please get in touch. Late bookings will receive their link shortly before the session. If you have not received it by 9 a.m. on the day, please contact your consultant, as duplicate links typically cannot be issued once the session has started.
