Salary: £53,198 - £57,183 Plus £5,000 Welcome bonus
Contract: 12 Months

Simply Education is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist independent day school, that is nurturing and forward-thinking, supporting young people aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition.

We're now looking for an Assistant Headteacher to join this school on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious leader who is passionate about SEN education and ready to make a real difference.

The Role: What You'll Do

As Assistant Headteacher, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the quality of education and the success of our school community. You will:

  • Drive outstanding teaching and learning, coaching and developing staff to deliver "quality-first teaching"
  • Lead by example, inspiring and motivating teams through mentoring and professional development
  • Take strategic responsibility for curriculum design, student progress, and wellbeing
  • Help create a creative, engaging, and inclusive curriculum tailored to every learner
  • Work closely with the Head of School to ensure high standards across teaching, resources, and provision
  • Build strong partnerships within the school, across Aurora, and with external agencies
  • Act as Exams Officer, ensuring all processes meet JCQ standards
  • Lead on Careers Education (CEIAG), preparing pupils for life beyond school
  • Take ownership of a curriculum area across Surrey Schools

About You

You are a confident, compassionate leader with a passion for SEND and a commitment to excellence. You'll bring:

  • QTS or QTLS (essential)
  • A strong track record of outstanding teaching and leadership in SEN or relevant settings
  • Experience of turning strategy into successful practice
  • Proven ability to raise standards across a whole school or key phase
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and inspire
  • Experience managing teams, complex situations, and building strong relationships with external partners
