School Caretaker
Salary: £29,120 - £31,512 per year (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (including 3pm-8pm, with an additional 3 hours per day to be agreed)
Simply Education are working with a school seeking a proactive and reliable School Caretaker to support the day-to-day maintenance, compliance, and upkeep of the school site.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll help ensure the buildings, grounds, and facilities are safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose, providing a positive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and minor refurbishment work across the school site.
- Ensure school grounds and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard.
- Complete routine health and safety checks, including weekly fire alarm testing and legionella monitoring.
- Maintain accurate records of all compliance and safety checks.
- Support planned preventative maintenance and servicing programmes.
- Assist with site improvement projects and ongoing development works.
- Work closely with the Premises and Compliance Manager to ensure the smooth running of the site.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management role.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience carrying out basic building repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of trades such as electrical, plumbing, construction, or general maintenance is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
- Good IT skills and the ability to use maintenance management systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
- Flexible, reliable, and able to work independently when required.
