DT Teacher
Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and student-centred Design & Technology Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Romford. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about helping young people develop confidence, creativity, and practical problem-solving skills through hands-on learning.
About the Role:
You will play a key role in shaping students' learning experiences by delivering engaging, inclusive, and practical lessons that bring Design & Technology to life. You will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with opportunities at KS5), supporting students of all abilities to explore, design, and create.
A strong emphasis is placed on:
- Encouraging independent thinking and creativity
- Supporting students through the design process from concept to final product
- Building resilience and confidence through practical challenges
- Preparing students for GCSE coursework and examinations
Student Impact & Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver lessons that are interactive, hands-on, and accessible to all learners
- Differentiate teaching to support a wide range of abilities, including SEND and high-achieving students
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to help students improve their designs and technical skills
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom/workshop environment
- Inspire students to consider future pathways in engineering, design, and creative industries
- Monitor student progress closely and intervene where needed to ensure every student succeeds
Key Skills & Qualities:
- A genuine commitment to student development and well being
- Ability to build positive relationships and motivate learners
- Strong classroom management with a focus on engagement and participation
- Excellent subject knowledge in areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Food Technology
- Passion for making learning relevant to real-world applications
