The successful Forest School Teacher will plan and deliver high-quality outdoor learning sessions that develop pupils' confidence, resilience, independence, communication and teamwork skills, while supporting their academic, social and emotional development.

The Role - Forest School Teacher

As a Forest School Teacher, you will:

• Plan, deliver and assess engaging Forest School and outdoor learning lessons
• Develop progressive outdoor learning experiences linked to curriculum objectives
• Support pupils with SEND, EHCPs and SEMH needs
• Promote confidence, resilience, independence and emotional wellbeing
• Use outdoor education to develop communication, literacy, numeracy, teamwork and problem-solving skills
• Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
• Carry out appropriate risk assessments and risk-benefit assessments
• Monitor and assess pupil progress and personal development
• Contribute to EHCP reviews and wider pupil support processes
• Work closely with teaching, SEND, pastoral and therapeutic teams
• Support educational visits, enrichment activities and off-site learning
• Promote environmental awareness and respect for the natural world

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a Forest School Teacher who is enthusiastic, creative and passionate about providing alternative and engaging learning opportunities.

You should have:

• QTS or recognised teaching qualification
• Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
• Experience or a strong interest in Forest School, outdoor learning or outdoor education
• Understanding of SEND and/or SEMH
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• The ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Teachers with experience in Primary Education, Special Educational Needs, Alternative Provision, Outdoor Education, Forest School or SEMH settings are encouraged to apply.
