About the Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils with their learning and development. You will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to ensure children receive the encouragement, guidance and support they need to succeed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support class teachers with the delivery of engaging and effective lessons.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning.
• Provide targeted support with reading, writing, phonics, mathematics and other curriculum areas.
• Assist pupils in understanding and completing classroom activities.
• Help prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials.
• Support pupils who require additional help to access the curriculum.
• Encourage children to develop independence, confidence and resilience.
• Support pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Promote positive behaviour and reinforce classroom expectations.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
• Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to the class teacher.
• Support teachers with observations and assessment of pupil progress.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, other teaching assistants and the SENCO.
• Support pupils during break times, lunchtimes and school activities where required.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment.
• Assist with classroom displays, resources and general organisation.
• Support school trips, enrichment activities and wider school events.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
• Promote equality, inclusion and the wellbeing of every pupil.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in relevant education and training opportunities.

About You

The successful candidate will be a motivated graduate with a genuine passion for working with children and an interest in developing a career within education.

You will ideally have:

• A degree in any subject, although education, psychology, English, mathematics or a related subject may be advantageous.
