Salary: £34,398 - £48,913 per annum (M1 - UPS1 Fringe)
+ £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers*

Working Hours: Start time 8:15am. Finish times: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 4:45pm, Tuesday 5:00pm, Friday 4:00pm.

Simply Education are excited to be working with a school that is seeking a passionate and dedicated Nurture Teacher to join their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a specialist SEND secondary school supporting young people aged 11-16 with social communication needs, emotional regulation challenges and sensory processing differences, commonly associated with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

As a Nurture Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and inspiring learning environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning for students with autism and a range of additional needs. You will support pupils who may have multiple learning difficulties and, at times, present behaviours that require a calm, nurturing and consistent approach.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will help students develop confidence, resilience and independence while achieving their individual educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum.
• Plan, prepare and assess learning through effective short, medium and long-term planning.
• Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets for students.
• Track and report on student progress through written reports, reviews and parent meetings.
• Create structured, motivating and challenging learning environments.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff and families.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews, Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and Looked After Child (LAC) reviews.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of autism and best practices in SEND education.
• Support positive behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
• Foster a nurturing, inclusive and non-confrontational learning environment.
• Adapt to the changing needs of the school and support wider school activities when required.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience working within specialist education or SEND settings.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and personalised learning approaches.
• Knowledge of the National Curriculum.
• Understanding of autism, social communication needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• A nurturing, resilient and adaptable approach to teaching.

Desirable

• Additional SEND qualifications or specialist training.
• Experience developing or adapting curriculum content for learners with SEND.
• Knowledge of co-occurring conditions associated with autism and their impact on learning.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
