Actual Salary: £34,361 - £37,368

£3,000 Welcome Bonus for Candidates with SEN Experience*

Simply Education are working in partnership with a specialist SEN school to recruit an experienced Pastoral Lead & Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). This is an exciting opportunity to lead on safeguarding, behaviour and pastoral support within a specialist setting, supporting students aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to achieve their full potential.

As a key member of the leadership team, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment while working closely with staff, families and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for every student.

The Role

  • Lead on safeguarding, pastoral care and behaviour across the school.
  • Oversee the implementation of the school's Attendance Policy and monitor attendance.
  • Provide immediate support and guidance to staff and students when additional intervention is required.
  • Monitor student behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Deliver safeguarding and behaviour training to staff.
  • Support students who are struggling to engage in learning, working collaboratively with the clinical and teaching teams.
  • Produce safeguarding, attendance and behaviour reports for senior leaders and governors.
  • Act as the school's Designated Lead for Looked After Children (LAC).
  • Coordinate targeted interventions and support for students with EHCPs.

What We're Looking For

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
  • Demonstrable experience working with children or young people with Autism (ASC), SEMH or additional needs.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour.
  • A sound understanding of health and safety, data protection and equality legislation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills.

Working Hours

  • Monday-Wednesday: 8:15am - 4:45pm
  • Thursday: 8:15am - 5:00pm
  • Friday: 8:15am - 4:00pm
