Make a Real Difference as a Pastoral Lead
Simply Education are excited to be working with a specialist education setting in Mansfield to recruit an experienced and compassionate Pastoral Lead.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants a role where the work they do genuinely makes a difference.
You'll be supporting young people who may face SEND, ASC, mental health needs and other barriers to learning, helping them develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships while creating an environment where they feel safe, listened to and valued.
If you're someone who can build strong relationships, remain calm under pressure and see the young person behind the behaviour, this could be a great opportunity for you.
What You'll Be Doing
As Pastoral Lead, you'll be at the heart of the pastoral support offered to students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day pastoral and wellbeing support
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Delivering 1:1 interventions and tutorial support
- Supporting attendance, behaviour and safeguarding
- Managing conflict and using effective de-escalation strategies
- Supporting PSHE and wider wellbeing initiatives
- Giving students opportunities to share their views and have their voices heard
- Working closely with parents, carers and external agencies
- Attending safeguarding and multi-agency meetings
- Recording and monitoring pastoral information
- Providing cover and line management support when required
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is experienced, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping young people succeed.
You'll need:
- A Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant area
- English and Maths at Level 2
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Extensive experience working in a pastoral or wellbeing role
- Experience supporting young people with SEND, ASC or mental health needs
- A good understanding of safeguarding
- Experience managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation strategies
- The ability to remain calm, reflective and solution-focused
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
Experience within a school, college or alternative provision setting would be beneficial, but isn't essential.
Why Apply?
This isn't just a job where you'll support young people from the sidelines. You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, influence positive change and help young people overcome barriers that may be holding them back.
If you're looking for a rewarding permanent role where no two days are the same and where your experience can have a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.
