A supportive Alternative Provision in Northwich is looking for a Behaviour Mentor / SEN Teaching Assistant, with a particular interest in Psychology graduates who want to develop valuable experience supporting young people with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and behavioural needs.

This isn't just classroom support it's about understanding behaviour, building positive relationships, and helping young people feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

The Setting

This is a structured and supportive Alternative Provision where staff work together to create a calm, consistent environment for learners who benefit from a more personalised approach.

You'll be part of a team that recognises behaviour as communication and focuses on trust, connection and positive support strategies.

Students have opportunities to take part in enrichment activities and experiences beyond the classroom, helping them develop confidence, independence and important life skills.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience within education, SEN or behavioural support.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), SEMH, Autism and ADHD
• Working as a Behaviour Mentor, SEN Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant
• Providing 1:1 support and small group interventions
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Encouraging engagement, independence and positive routines
• Building consistent and trusting relationships with young people
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
• Supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom

Who We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in Psychology graduates, but you do not need previous school experience.

We are looking for someone who is:

• A Psychology graduate (or related degree)
• Interested in child development, behaviour and mental health
• Calm, patient and resilient
• Confident building relationships with young people
• Able to use initiative and adapt to different situations
• Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners

Experience from roles such as support work, care, youth work, coaching or mentoring is also highly valued.
