SEN Art Teacher

Job description

Simply Education is seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated Art & Design Teacher with SEN experience to join a specialist school supporting autistic pupils. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference, using creativity as a powerful tool to help students express themselves, build confidence, and engage with learning.

You will teach across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form, delivering Art & Design in a way that is accessible, meaningful, and inspiring for learners with additional needs. Working within a highly supportive and forward-thinking environment, you will play a vital role in helping every student thrive both creatively and personally.

What You'll Be Doing

Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver creative, engaging, and well-structured Art lessons to a diverse range of learners
  • Adapt teaching to meet individual needs and ensure all students can succeed
  • Use innovative approaches, including technology, to enhance learning
  • Plan lessons that inspire curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide clear, constructive feedback

Student Progress & Support

  • Monitor and track student progress using data to inform teaching
  • Motivate and challenge students to achieve their best
  • Support student's personal development as a mentor where appropriate
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Collaboration & Contribution

  • Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to enhance learning
  • Engage with parents and carers to support student success
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and the wider school community
  • Take part in professional development, coaching, and mentoring opportunities
  • Support school improvement initiatives and uphold the school's ethos

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, attendance, and punctuality
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students
  • Follow school policies, including safeguarding procedures, at all times
  • Contribute positively to the life and culture of the school

Requirements:

  • QTS/QTLS
  • SEN experience - ideally ASD
  • SEN qualification - preferred but not essential

Salary: MPS/UPS - DOE

Contract: Until August 2027 with a view to stay on depending on funding
