Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Job description
Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Greater Manchester | £20,000 - £22,000 per annum | September 2026 start (earlier possible)
Do you have a natural ability to connect with young people who others find difficult to reach?
We're recruiting Teaching Assistants for a well-regarded independent SEMH school operating across Greater Manchester, including Old Trafford, Stockport, and Chadderton. The school supports young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, providing small-group and 1:1 education in a nurturing, structured environment.
The Role
You'll be working alongside teachers to support pupils in lessons, helping them stay engaged, manage their emotions, and make meaningful progress. No two days are the same, and the ability to build trust with young people who can be hard to reach is what sets the best TAs apart in settings like this.
What They're Looking For
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, ADHD, autism, or challenging behaviours
- A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
- Ability to work as part of a close-knit team
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential, attitude and experience carry real weight here
- Those with a background in care, youth work, or sport and mentoring are encouraged to apply
Salary and Details
- £20,000 - £22,000 per annum, depending on experience
- September 2026 start, with potential for an earlier start
- Primarily based at Old Trafford, with possible placement at Stockport or Chadderton
