Virtual Early Years Foundation Stage – Update &

This one-day course is designed to refresh key Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) skills and provide updates on the latest standards outlined in the current EYFS framework. It is aimed at colleagues returning to teaching after a prolonged absence, those primarily teaching Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 but looking to expand their opportunities to Early Years and individuals already working in Early Years. The course is suitable for Nursery Assistants, Teaching Assistants (TAs), Cover Supervisors (CS) and teachers.

Course Overview

The course begins with a review of the latest Overarching Principles from the current EYFS framework, focusing on:

The unique child
Positive relationships
Enabling environments
Learning and development

This is followed by a session raising awareness of the latest statutory requirements and teacher assessment practices.

Promoting Positive Behaviour
Expectations and behaviour management strategies are explored in depth. Course participants will engage in activities to examine and discuss effective techniques for managing and resolving behaviours commonly encountered in both short-term and long-term placements. The session also includes a focus on managing challenging behaviours, offering practical strategies for success.

Teaching Strategies and Play
The course highlights the critical role of play in fostering learning and understanding. Participants will explore its importance and learn strategies for maximising outdoor learning opportunities.

Safeguarding
The day concludes with an update on the latest safeguarding guidance to ensure all children are safe and supported in your setting.
