Virtual Introduction to SEN Teaching

This virtual, one day course is specifically designed to refresh essential skills and update knowledge of the latest standards and expectations for teachers working with pupils with challenging Special Educational Needs (including disabilities) in both special schools and mainstream settings.

The course builds on the Virtual Introduction to Supply Teaching (VIST) and focuses on equipping teachers with strategies to manage rapid and extreme escalations of undesirable behaviours in the classroom. It comprises four key sections:

  • Enhanced Safer Working Practices & SEND Intervention Virtual Training

  • Enhanced Behaviour Management Workshop

  • SEND Jargon, Concerns and Approaches

This course must be completed before teachers who have not taught in a school for three or more years, or who are from overseas, are placed, in line with compliance guidance.

This course is not suitable for Cover Supervisors or Teaching Assistants. Please book the relevant role-specific course instead.If you are unable to fully attend from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., please rebook for a time when you are available and can participate throughout.
