Job Opportunity: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Stoke-on-Trent

Role: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Stoke-on-Trent

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing personalised support to a student with specific learning needs. You will work closely with the student in both individual and group settings, helping them engage with the curriculum and overcome any barriers to learning. This role will give you the opportunity to make a real difference in the student's academic and personal development.

The ideal candidate for the 1:1 Teaching Assistant role will have a patient, caring nature and a genuine desire to support students in achieving their full potential. You should be flexible, adaptable, and committed to providing tailored support that meets the individual needs of the student.

Key Responsibilities of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide personalised support to a student with specific learning needs, both in and outside of the classroom.

  • Assist the student in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials and activities as needed to ensure their success.

  • Encourage and support the student's emotional, social, and academic development.

  • Help the student develop independent learning skills and increase their confidence.

  • Work closely with the class teacher to ensure that the student's learning plan is being followed.

  • Monitor and track the student's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment, ensuring the student feels supported and included in classroom activities.

  • Assist in the implementation of any behaviour management strategies or specific interventions required for the student.

  • Ensure that the student is safe and comfortable while learning, and offer guidance and encouragement when needed.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or childcare setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with students with additional needs.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A desire to support and motivate students to achieve their potential.

  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification (such as Level 2 or 3) or equivalent is preferred but not essential.

  • Previous experience working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
