Role: Art Teacher - Stoke-on-Trent

As an Art Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and inspiring lessons that help students explore and develop their artistic talents. You will teach a range of art and design techniques, encourage self-expression, and help students build confidence in their abilities. The ideal candidate for the Art Teacher role will have a strong background in art, design, or a related field, with the ability to teach across a variety of artistic disciplines. You should be passionate about fostering a love of art and creativity in students, while also supporting their academic growth.

Key Responsibilities of the Art Teacher:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging art lessons to students at various levels, covering a range of techniques and artistic styles.
  • Develop and implement creative and innovative teaching materials that inspire students to experiment and push their creative boundaries.
  • Encourage students to develop their own artistic voice and explore different mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital art.
  • Assess and monitor student's progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Organise and oversee art exhibitions, school displays, or extracurricular activities to showcase student's work.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel confident to express themselves creatively.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the school's art curriculum and contribute to cross-curricular projects.
  • Support students with additional needs and help them achieve their full potential in the arts.
  • Inspire students to explore the world of art, including its history, contemporary practice, and its role in society.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong background in art and design, with experience teaching a variety of artistic techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for art and a commitment to helping students develop their creative potential.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and deliver effective lessons.
  • Experience teaching Art at the secondary school level is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of contemporary art practices and digital media is a plus.
