Simply Education are working closely with our client to appoint a permanent Assistant Head Of School - for a brand new school opening up in April 2026 in the Bristol area.

The new school will be nurturing, inclusive and ambitious for children aged 5-19 with ASD, SEMH needs. The school has a capacity of 96 students, and the vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

About the role:

As the Assistant Head (Curriculum) - you will work closely with the Head Of School, Principal and Senior Leadership Team to lead and manage all aspects of teaching and learning. You will take responsibility for driving high-quality teaching, improving standards of learning and supporting staff to deliver an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils.

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited too):

  • Monitor pupil progress and implementing strategies to secure improvement
  • You'll lead curriculum development and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
  • Supporting and mentoring staff to develop their practice (CPD)
  • Line managing teachers and teaching assistants
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and aspiration learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Teaching Qualification ( PGCE , QTS, QTLS, Diploma in Teaching )
  • Management Qualifications - desirable

Essential Experience for the role:

  • Proven ability to work effectively with a range of external agencies
  • Proven management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution
  • Effective team management and collaborative working
  • Leadership of a significant area of phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school
  • Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within a special needs environment.
  • Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
