Simply Education is currently seeking a dedicated Construction Teacher to join an SEN school in Northwich. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality vocational education to students aged 8 to 18 with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).

You will be responsible for delivering Construction to pupils across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5. You will play a vital role in equipping pupils with practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and industry-relevant qualifications, including delivering City & Guilds Level 1 and Level 2 in Construction.

Set within beautiful grounds, the school offers unique opportunities for outdoor and practical learning. The aim is to create a supportive, stimulating environment where students are encouraged to explore their interests and develop practical life skills.

As a Construction Teacher, you will work closely with the senior leadership team to plan and deliver engaging and accessible lessons in areas such as carpentry, basic plumbing, bricklaying, and health & safety. Your role will involve helping students build confidence and employability skills, while also supporting their personal and social development.

We are looking for a passionate and adaptable teacher who understands the importance of a nurturing, practical approach in an SEN environment. Experience with students with additional needs is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Construction Lessons Across KS3-KS5: Teach practical and theoretical construction skills, including City & Guilds Level 1 and 2 qualifications.
  • Hands-On Learning: Facilitate a safe and structured workshop environment that supports experiential learning.
  • Differentiate Instruction: Adapt teaching styles to suit a variety of learning abilities and behavioural needs.
  • Support and Guidance: Work alongside teaching assistants and other staff to provide individual and small-group support.
  • Positive Behaviour Management: Promote a calm, respectful classroom ethos that supports positive behaviour and emotional development.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to support student progress.

Requirements:

  • A teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, QTLS, Cert Ed) or a willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience working with young people with SEN/SEMH is highly desirable.
  • Strong vocational knowledge of construction and practical workshop skills.
  • Experience delivering City & Guilds qualifications is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students with complex needs.
