Cover Supervisor (Term Time)
Salary: Competitive pro rata (based on relevant pay scale)
Contract: Term-time only, approximately 32.5 hours per week
Start Date: Immediate / as soon as possible
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and adaptable Cover Supervisor to maintain continuity of learning when teaching staff are unavailable. You will oversee classes using pre-prepared lesson materials, ensuring students stay engaged, on task, and supported in a positive and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes and deliver work that has been set by teaching staff
- Manage student behaviour in line with school policy, promoting a calm and productive environment
- Respond to student questions about the tasks or procedures (not new content)
- Take registers, collect completed work, and return it to the appropriate teacher
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement, behaviour, and any issues arising
- Support wider school duties when not covering, such as invigilation, administrative tasks, or interventions
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Qualities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, organised, and dependable
- Experience working with young people (e.g., in a school or youth-work setting)
- Ability to manage behaviour and maintain classroom discipline
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable:
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent (e.g., Level 3 Certificate in Cover Supervision)
- Interest in pursuing a career in teaching or educational support
