Role: Education Support Worker - Stoke-on-Trent

As an Education Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping students access the curriculum, supporting their learning, and providing tailored support to those who require extra assistance. You will work closely with students, teachers, and other staff to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

The ideal candidate for the Education Support Worker role will be patient, compassionate, and proactive, with the ability to work with students of varying abilities and backgrounds. Your role will be integral in helping students overcome barriers to learning and supporting their personal development.

Key Responsibilities of the Education Support Worker:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them engage with the curriculum and succeed in their studies.
  • Assist students with special educational needs (SEND) by providing tailored support in the classroom and during other activities.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where students feel confident to participate and engage.
  • Support student's emotional and behavioural development, encouraging positive social interactions and self-regulation.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and preparing learning materials and resources.
  • Monitor student's progress, record observations, and provide feedback to teachers to inform the development of individualised learning plans.
  • Offer support to students outside of the classroom, such as during break times, lunch, or extracurricular activities.
  • Work closely with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to provide the best possible support for students.
  • Promote the well-being and safety of students, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing their independence, confidence, and resilience.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or support setting.
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with students of diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting student's learning and development.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
