Role: History Teacher - Stoke-on-Trent

As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that help students understand the past and its relevance to the present. You will encourage critical thinking, historical inquiry, and help students develop the skills they need to analyse historical events and their impact on the world today. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students with the stories and lessons of history and make a lasting impact on their learning journey.

The ideal candidate for the History Teacher role will have a strong background in history, with the ability to teach across key stages. You should be passionate about making history come alive for students and developing their understanding of the world through the lens of the past.

Key Responsibilities of the History Teacher:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in History, covering a wide range of topics from ancient history to modern times.
  • Develop engaging and innovative teaching resources and materials to support student learning.
  • Foster a love of history in students and encourage critical thinking and historical inquiry.
  • Assess and monitor student's progress, providing regular feedback to support their development.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel confident to participate and engage with the subject.
  • Help students develop research, writing, and analytically skills that they can apply in history and beyond.
  • Contribute to the development of the History curriculum and share ideas for enhancing the teaching of the subject.
  • Organise and participate in extracurricular activities such as history clubs, trips, or special events related to history.
  • Support students with additional learning needs to ensure they have access to the curriculum and can achieve their potential.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong academic background in History (a degree in History or a related field is preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for history and a commitment to inspiring students.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to deliver lessons that engage and challenge students.
  • Experience teaching History in a secondary school setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of historical events, contexts, and methodologies across a variety of time periods.
