Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • 1:1 & Small Group Support: Provide tailored academic and emotional support to students who require additional help in accessing the curriculum.

  • SEND Support: Assist students with special educational needs (SEND), helping them build confidence, independence and key skills.

  • Classroom Assistance: Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, accessible lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.

  • Adapted Learning Resources: Help modify activities and resources to ensure they meet the individual needs of learners.

  • Behaviour & Emotional Support: Encourage positive behaviour, offering calm and consistent support to students who may face emotional or behavioural challenges.

  • Monitoring Progress: Track and record student progress, providing valuable feedback to teaching staff to inform future learning plans.

  • Safeguarding: Promote student wellbeing and uphold the school's safeguarding standards at all times.

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, tutoring, or similar).

  • A patient, caring and empathetic approach to supporting student needs.

  • A clear DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting SEND or additional learning needs.

  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, or similar.
