Learning Support Practitoner

Job description

Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in a young person's life?

We are working with SEN school near Towcester that supports children and young people aged 4-18 with Autism, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). They are currently seeking a compassionate and committed Learning Support Practitioner to join their team as soon as possible. Part-time availability will also be considered for the right candidate.

The school is looking for someone who is dedicated to helping pupils communicate in a variety of ways and who can confidently connect with and motivate learners with diverse needs. Prior experience supporting children or adults with Special Educational Needs would be highly beneficial.

As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in building a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every pupil has the opportunity to grow. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering personalised support to pupils with autism, SLCN and SLD across different age groups and ability levels.

  • Working alongside class teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored programmes and interventions.

  • Encouraging the development of communication using tools such as visual supports, PECS, AAC, Makaton or other appropriate strategies.

  • Assisting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory processing and developing independence skills.

  • Contributing to individual learning plans and monitoring pupil progress.

  • Supporting positive relationships and ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of pupils at all times.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role and wants to become part of a nurturing and enthusiastic school community.
