Location: Manchester (Various schools across the City Council area)
Contract: Long-term / Full-time
Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary is dependant on experience

Simply Education are working in partnership with Manchester City Council schools to recruit a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to provide specialist behaviour, guidance, and learning support to pupils with additional needs.

This role will suit an experienced Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting children with behavioural, social, emotional, or communication difficulties, and who can work under the direction of teaching staff to help overcome barriers to learning.

You will play a key role in promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and pupil progress, delivering tailored interventions and mentoring pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with additional or complex needs, including SEMH, ASC, and behavioural challenges.

  • Assist teachers with the planning and delivery of personalised learning and behaviour strategies.

  • Develop 1:1 mentoring relationships, providing emotional and pastoral support to pupils who may be distressed or disengaged.

  • Support pupils' access to learning by implementing individual education and behaviour plans (ILPs/IBPs).

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.

  • Promote positive behaviour, self-esteem, and resilience among pupils.

  • Liaise with parents, staff, and external professionals to ensure consistency of support.

  • Supervise pupils during lessons, outdoor activities, and educational visits.

  • Support the wider school community in maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.


Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience) - essential.

  • Valid Team Teach qualification - essential (must be in date to be considered).

  • Proven experience supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs.

  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and inclusive practice.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Confident, patient, and resilient when working with challenging behaviour.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to pupil wellbeing.

  • Willingness to complete relevant ongoing training, including first aid if required.
