PE Teacher - SEND/SEMH in stockport

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and resilient PE Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist school supporting students with (SEND) an (SEMH) needs.

You will deliver a dynamic and accessible PE curriculum that promotes physical well-being, self-confidence, teamwork, and emotional resilience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver inclusive PE lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEND and SEMH.

  • Encourage active participation in physical activity, supporting both physical health and emotional development.

  • Create a safe, supportive environment where all pupils feel valued and able to succeed.

  • Use a trauma-informed and positive behaviour approach to manage classroom dynamics effectively.

  • Foster self-esteem, independence, and a sense of achievement through physical education.

  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, and support staff to ensure holistic student development.

  • Contribute to whole-school activities and enrichment opportunities that promote active lifestyles.


Requirements

  • A recognised degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Experience working with SEND and/or SEMH students is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of adaptive teaching strategies and inclusive practice in PE.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and classroom management skills.

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to teaching and student engagement.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
