Physical Education (PE) Teacher - Braintree, Essex

Location: Braintree, Essex
Contract Type: Full-time
Start Date: Easter
Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (dependent on experience)

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary setting in Braintree. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This is an exciting opportunity for both experienced teachers and ECTs who are passionate about promoting physical activity, teamwork, and lifelong healthy lifestyles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and challenging PE lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach a broad range of sports and physical activities

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress

  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and curriculum planning

  • Lead or support extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures, and enrichment activities

  • Promote high standards of behaviour, participation, and sportsmanship

  • Support whole-school initiatives relating to wellbeing and physical health

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching PE in a secondary school setting (including ECT placements)

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

  • A commitment to inclusive practice and student development

  • The ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities

  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular sport
