Personal Care Assistant - Special Needs School (Peterborough)
Simply Education is looking for a caring, reliable, and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join a well-established special needs school in Peterborough. The school provides a nurturing, structured, and inclusive environment for children and young people aged 4-19 with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), communication needs, and sensory processing challenges.

Role Overview
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will support pupils who require additional help with personal care, mobility, emotional regulation, and daily routines. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, feel safe, and develop independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care such as toileting, hygiene, feeding, dressing and changing.
- Support pupils with mobility, including hoisting and moving/handling procedures (full training provided).
- Assist pupils with Autism, ADHD, and severe learning needs in following structured routines and learning activities.
- Use communication strategies such as visual schedules, symbols, and sensory regulation tools.
- Create a calm, nurturing environment and support pupils with emotional or behavioural regulation.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and accurate records in line with school policy.
What We are Looking For
- Experience supporting individuals with SEN such as Autism, ADHD, SLD, or PMLD (desirable, not essential).
- A background in care is warmly welcomed (e.g., elderly care, domiciliary care, health care assistant roles, or previous SEN care support).
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
- Ability to follow guidance, routines, and care plans.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
