Personal Care Assistant - SEN School
Simply Education is seeking a caring, reliable, and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join a supportive and well-resourced special needs school located on the Royston border between Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. The school provides high-quality, personalised education for children and young people aged 4-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), communication needs, and sensory processing challenges.
This is a rewarding and meaningful role where you will help pupils access learning safely, comfortably, and confidently.

Role Overview
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will provide essential personal and mobility support to pupils with complex needs, while also helping them engage in daily routines and classroom activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care including toileting, hygiene, feeding, dressing, and changing.
- Support pupils with mobility needs using hoists and specialist equipment (training provided).
- Assist pupils with Autism, ADHD, and severe learning needs in following structured routines and lessons.
- Use communication tools such as visual schedules, symbols, and sensory supports.
- Promote independence, emotional regulation, and positive engagement.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation in line with school safeguarding policies.
What We're Looking For
- A background in care is warmly welcomed, including elderly care, domiciliary care, healthcare assistant roles, or SEN care.
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, SLD, or PMLD is desirable but not essential.
- A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
- Ability to follow routines, individual care plans, and safeguarding procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
