Role: Primary Teaching Assistant - Stoke-on-Trent
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to provide support for students in the classroom. Your role will involve assisting with lesson delivery, supporting individual and small group learning, and helping students develop both academically and socially. You will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, where every child feels supported to succeed.
The ideal candidate for the Primary Teaching Assistant role will have a caring and patient nature, with a strong desire to help children learn and develop. You should be adaptable, proactive, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners.
Key Responsibilities of the Primary Teaching Assistant:
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities to primary-aged students.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them to understand and engage with the curriculum.
- Support students with additional needs or those requiring extra help, providing tailored assistance where necessary.
- Help create a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel confident and motivated.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring students remain focused and engaged during lessons.
- Monitor student's progress and provide feedback to the class teacher, contributing to the development of personalised learning plans.
- Support students in developing their social, emotional, and behavioural skills, encouraging positive interactions with peers and staff.
- Assist with preparing classroom materials and resources for lessons and activities.
- Supervise students during break times, lunch, and other non-teaching activities as required.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting.
- A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and support the class teacher in the delivery of lessons.
- A proactive, flexible attitude to supporting student's needs.
- A relevant qualification in education (such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
