Psychology Graduate

Location: Wirral

Pay: £88.92 - £100.53 dependent on payroll choice
Sector: Independent Special Needs School

We are looking for a passionate Psychology Graduate to join our team at an independent special needs school on the Wirral. This is a fantastic opportunity for a psychology graduate to make a meaningful impact by supporting students who have faced challenges in their education, helping them build confidence, reengage with learning, and develop important life skills.

About the School:

This small provision caters for young people aged 11-14 who have experienced disruptions to their education. The school focuses on rebuilding students' confidence and self-esteem through a multi-agency approach, combining academic support with emotional and therapeutic development.

With a capacity for 32 students (currently 12 on roll), the school ensures a personalised learning experience with small class sizes (3-5 pupils) and a high staff-to-student ratio. Students also participate in enriching activities like horse riding, team-building, and vocational training in beauty and hairdressing, helping them gain life skills and qualifications alongside their academic development.

Your Role as a Psychology Graduate:

  • Support students with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges, helping them reengage with learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support strategies based on students' individual needs.
  • Assist in creating and implementing learning and behaviour plans to support students' academic and emotional growth.
  • Encourage students to develop coping strategies, emotional regulation, and resilience.
  • Help deliver life skills activities, including team-building and vocational qualifications.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting confidence and self-esteem.

What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in Psychology (or related field).
  • Passion for working with young people, especially those with additional needs.
  • Strong understanding of psychological theories and how they can be applied in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude in supporting students.
  • Flexibility to adapt support based on individual student needs.
