Pay: £130 - £170 Per day, dependent on payroll choice
Sector: Independent Special Needs School

We are looking for a passionate Science Teacher to join our team at an independent special needs school on the Wirral. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage and support students in developing their scientific knowledge, reengage with their education, and build their confidence in learning.

About the School:

This small provision caters for young people aged 11-14 who have faced disruptions in their education. The school focuses on rebuilding students' confidence and self-esteem through a multi-agency approach, combining academic support with emotional and therapeutic development.

With a capacity for 32 students (currently 12 on roll), the school offers small class sizes (3-5 pupils) and a high staff-to-student ratio. Students also take part in enriching activities such as horse riding, team-building, and vocational training in beauty and hairdressing, gaining life skills alongside their academic learning.

Your Role as a Science Teacher:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Science lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Help students improve their understanding of scientific concepts across various topics.
  • Provide support for students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Differentiate lesson content and teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving in students as they explore scientific principles.
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop and implement personalised education plans for students.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) with experience teaching Science, preferably to students with additional needs.
  • A passion for helping students develop their scientific knowledge and curiosity.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.
