Secondary SEN Teacher

Job description

Simply Education are looking for an inspirational and engaging Teacher, to deliver high quality teaching and learning to children and young people with autism and complex needs such as ADHD, OCD and PDA, who may present with challenging behaviours associated with their autism. The school is a dynamic and insiring provision for children and young people aged 7-19 with primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.

The role involves delivering engaging, high-quality teaching that supports pupil's progress academically, while also nurturing their social and emotional development. You will bring creativity to your practice and maintain high expectations for all learners. A strong understanding of ASC is essential in order to effectively plan and deliver a broad, balanced curriculum that enables pupils to reach their full potential across all areas of learning.

You will design and deliver lessons that guide young people towards recognised accreditation across a range of academic pathways, supporting them to develop independence and resilience both within the classroom and beyond.

Requirements:

  • PGCE/QTS
  • Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN
  • Experience of working with young people with ASD
  • A flexible approach, a high level creativity and the ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs
  • Experience of managing a small team of teaching assistants
