SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Winsford, Cheshire
Pay: £88.92 - £100.53 per day (dependent on payroll choice)
Start Date: September 2025
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our exceptional special school team. Our school supports students aged 11-17 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside other complex needs such as speech, language, communication challenges, and behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties.
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them develop essential emotional and social skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Role and Responsibilities:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing tailored support to students with SEMH and other learning difficulties.
- Supporting students with emotional regulation and social skill development.
- Working closely with teachers to create and implement strategies for improving student well-being and academic progress.
- Encouraging a positive, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environment.
- Helping students make progress towards their individual goals, both academically and emotionally.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience working with students with SEMH or similar needs is desirable.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
- A commitment to supporting students with emotional and mental health challenges.
- The ability to work effectively within a team, following the guidance of teaching staff.
