About the Role:
Simply Education is seeking a passionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) school near Ely, Cambridgeshire. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need additional support to achieve their full potential.
You will be working closely with children and young people who have SEMH needs, trauma backgrounds, mental health challenges, and complex behaviour. The role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping pupils develop both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH and behavioural needs in both classroom and 1:1 settings.
- Implement tailored learning strategies under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
- Foster positive relationships and promote emotional regulation and resilience.
- Encourage engagement, motivation, and progress through creative and supportive approaches.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
-Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, trauma, or challenging behaviour.
- Be resilient, patient, and calm under pressure.
-Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
-Hold a full UK driving licence (school is not easily accessible by public transport).
-Be available to work Monday to Friday, term time only.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an SEMH, PRU, or behavioural support setting preferred.
- Must have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the update service.
- Right to work in the UK.
