SEN Cover Supervisor

Job description

We are looking to appoint committed and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to support a number of special education need schools across Northamptonshire on a full-time or flexible basis. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in schools supporting secondary or SEN students.

Our schools are vibrant, inclusive environments that support students with a wide range of needs, including cognition and learning challenges and autism. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining high-quality learning experiences when regular teachers are absent, helping students to continue making progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and deliver lessons in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring continuity of learning

  • Work effectively with individuals and small groups of pupils, including those with SEN

  • Support a positive and safe learning environment across different school settings

  • Encourage students' independence, confidence, and engagement in learning

  • Follow lesson plans and provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA, or UK teaching experience in secondary or SEN settings

  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team

  • Have a clear understanding of the needs of students with SEN

  • Possess good literacy and numeracy skills

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Bring enthusiasm, reliability, and a positive attitude to the role

This is an excellent opportunity to work across multiple schools, gain valuable experience, and make a tangible difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
