This is an exciting role for a qualified teacher with a strong understanding of Special Educational Needs who is committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of young learners.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, inclusive teaching to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language Needs, and other complex learning difficulties. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing bespoke learning programmes tailored to the individual needs of your students, ensuring they receive the support and guidance needed to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with pupils' EHCPs and individual learning plans.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide holistic support for each student.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel valued and respected.
- Monitor and track pupil progress, adapting strategies to support academic, social, and emotional development.
- Promote positive behaviour and develop effective strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers and contribute to review meetings, reports, and documentation.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (in a school or alternative provision).
- Strong knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and relevant legislation.
- Excellent behaviour management skills and a compassionate, patient attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
