Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Haringey
Setting: All-Through SEMH School
Start Date: January 2026
Daily Rate: £100-£130 per day (dependent on experience)
We are seeking a committed and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join an all-through SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Haringey from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs across primary and secondary age ranges.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning, helping pupils to achieve both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Support the delivery of differentiated learning activities
Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
Foster positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and social development
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff
Contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (desirable)
A calm, patient, and consistent approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to build positive relationships and set clear boundaries
A genuine commitment to inclusion and pupil development
Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN, or youth work are advantageous but not essential
