Job description

Simply Education are looking for an experienced SENCO to join our clients school at the start of August 2026. Our clients school is opening its doors in Autumn 2026, and are looking for an experienced SENCO to help make this vision a reality.

The school will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 120 students, the vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

As SENCO, you'll play a central role in shaping the SEND provision and ensuring every pupil's EHCP outcomes are delivered and tracked. Working closely with the Headteacher, you'll oversee interventions, staff training, and the development of strategies that make a real difference to our learners.

Your responsibilities:

  • Managing referrals and the pre-admission process in partnership with the Business Development team and families.
  • Leading on SEND policy and provision, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.
  • Coordinating and deploying resources, staff, and therapies to meet individual needs.
  • Preparing for and participating in annual reviews and case conferences.
  • Driving best practice through CPD, mentoring, and coaching staff.
  • Supporting the Headteacher with strategic development and school improvement plans.

This is a leadership role where you'll influence the culture and success of our school from day one.

Essential Qualifications & Essential Experience:

  • QTS or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years effective experience as a SENCO, ideally in an SEN environment.
  • Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
  • Effective team management and collaborative working.
  • Strong communication skills across a range of audiences and mediums.
  • Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a range of external agencies.
