SEND Teaching Assistant Role - January 2025 Start

Location: Medway
Role: SEND Teaching Assistant (Supporting students with ASD and complex needs)
Pay: £85 - £105 per day
Start Date: January 2025

Simply Education is proud to partner with a well-established and inclusive primary school in Medway that specialises in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs. The school is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role focuses on providing tailored support to students, helping them access education and thrive both academically and personally. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support for students with ASD and complex needs, ensuring their individual learning and emotional needs are met.
  • Assist teachers in adapting lesson plans and activities to suit students' diverse abilities and requirements.
  • Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement strategies and interventions to promote positive behavior and engagement.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and deliver Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide personal care support as needed, ensuring students' comfort and dignity.
  • Help students develop essential life skills and independence.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD and complex needs, is highly advantageous.
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive approach to learning and a willingness to undertake any relevant training provided by the school.
  • Knowledge of strategies and tools to support students with SEND (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory integration) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient in meeting the challenges of a dynamic school environment.
