We are seeking a Head of Computer Science to lead a dynamic and forward-thinking department at a well-regarded secondary school in Northampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive curriculum innovation, inspire students, and contribute to whole-school improvement from September 2025.


About the Role:

As Head of Computer Science, you will take strategic and operational responsibility for the subject across Key Stages 3-5. You'll lead the department in delivering outstanding teaching, curriculum development, and enrichment opportunities, while supporting the professional growth of your team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Computer Science curriculum to ensure excellence in teaching and learning

  • Deliver engaging and rigorous lessons across all key stages, including exam groups

  • Monitor student achievement, set targets, and implement interventions to raise attainment

  • Line-manage and support Computer Science teachers, promoting effective CPD and collaboration

  • Drive digital innovation and STEM engagement across the wider school community

  • Organise and promote extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs, competitions, and tech-related events

  • Uphold high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and professional conduct

  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and participate in key decision-making processes


What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a closely related subject

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching at secondary level (KS3-KS5)

  • Proven experience of leadership or readiness for middle leadership responsibilities

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for digital education

  • Strong communication, organisational, and team leadership skills

  • A commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment

  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
