About the Role

Simply Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in Ellesmere Port, seeking a patient, resilient, and compassionate sports coach to join their team on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds who are looking to transition into education as a sports coach. Candidates with experience in residential childcare, social care, or as a sports coach are particularly encouraged to apply.

The school offers a specialist, therapeutic environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). This sports coach role provides the chance to make a genuine difference every day-supporting students not only physically, but also in their social and emotional development.

As a sports coach, you will play a key role in helping pupils achieve meaningful progress and positive outcomes through structured physical activity and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

As a sports coach, you will:

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Support behaviour management using positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies
• Deliver structured sports and physical activities to engage pupils
• Provide emotional and sensory support to develop pupils' confidence and resilience
• Promote inclusion through adapted activities and teamwork
• Work collaboratively with teachers and therapeutic staff

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for individuals who are either starting or continuing their career as a sports coach.

You will be:

• Experienced in schools, residential childcare, social care, or as a sport coach
• Patient, adaptable, and resilient, with an understanding of SEMH needs
• Passionate about using sport as a tool for engagement and development
• Qualified in coaching, education or SEND (desirable but not essential)
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
