Level 1 Teaching Assistant - Behaviour & Additional Needs
Location: Manchester (City Council Area)
Salary: £23,114 per annum (pro rata)
Contract: Full-time / Long-term
Start Date: As soon as possible
Simply Education are seeking a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join one of our partnered Manchester schools, supporting pupils with behavioural, social, and emotional needs. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive within an inclusive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional or behavioural needs.
- Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
- Encourage pupil participation and help promote positive behaviour and engagement.
- Support pupils' emotional and social development through consistent, nurturing guidance.
- Implement de-escalation strategies and behaviour interventions using Team Teach techniques.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment for all pupils.
Requirements:
- Team Teach qualification (essential) - candidates without this cannot be considered.
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational or community setting.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
- Understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.
- Willingness to develop skills and undertake ongoing training.
Desirable:
- Level 1 or 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience within an SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision environment.
