Teaching Assistant - Permanent SEMH Role (Immediate Start)

Location: Old Trafford, Greater Manchester
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: £21,500 - £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

The Role

Simply Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Old Trafford to recruit a Teaching Assistant for a permanent, direct role with the school. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed individual seeking long-term stability within a specialist education setting.

The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, requiring staff who can provide consistent, structured, and emotionally informed support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Assisting with behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing

  • Supporting teaching and learning activities under staff guidance

  • Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe learning environment

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN professionals

Person Specification

  • Experience within SEND, SEMH, PRU, Alternative Provision, or similar settings is highly desirable

  • Strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience

  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach

  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Backgrounds in education, youth work, care, or support work are welcomed
