About the Role

Simply Education is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support an independent SEMH school based in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

This role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, who are passionate about making a positive difference in pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support for children with SEMH and ASD needs, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist in the development and delivery of personalised learning plans
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement strategies that promote engagement and positive behaviour
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessment and reporting
  • Support classroom management to ensure a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Contribute to the wider pastoral and academic goals of the school

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with children with SEMH and/or ASD needs
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within a school setting
  • Understanding of strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and effective classroom management
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Flexible, proactive, and professional approach
