1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

Permanent Position
Full‑time | 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,228 - £27,593 DOE (from April)

Simply Education are supporting a specialist provision in the Stockport area in recruiting a permanent 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for someone experienced in supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours, looking for a long‑term, secure position within a nurturing setting.
The successful candidate will be employed directly by the school from the start.


The Role

You will work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who requires consistent, personalised support due to a range of social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs. The school are looking for someone patient, resilient and confident in using trauma‑informed strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering tailored support under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Adapting learning activities to individual needs
  • Encouraging independence, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Supporting behaviour in line with school expectations and safeguarding practice
  • Contributing to a safe, calm and supportive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people in education, SEND or care
  • Experience with challenging behaviours and complex needs
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management
  • A calm, positive and adaptable approach
  • Level 3 TA qualification is advantageous but not essential
