Simply Education is excited to partner with a fantastic specialist provision in Openshaw, who are seeking an empathetic and dedicated English Teacher to join their team on a permanent contract. This opportunity is ideal for English Teachers who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with social and emotional mental health (SEMH). The school would be interested in hearing from English teachers or English tutors on a full time contract or part time.
About the School: The school is a specialist independent school for secondary-age children with SEMH needs, based in Greater Manchester. They create an inclusive and nurturing environment, empowering each individual student. The school offers a child-centred approach to learning, with a full national curriculum and vocational pathways, including Unit Award Schemes, GCSEs, and BTEC qualifications. The focus is on the needs, interests, and learning styles of each student.
About the Role: The school is looking for an English Teacher or English Tutor to deliver lessons to small groups of 4 to 5 pupils, supported by a teaching assistant. In this role, you will be planning and delivering tailored lessons that meet the needs of the pupils in functional skills English and GCSE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke learning opportunities focused on student's interests.
- Support students in re-engaging with their learning.
- Model high behavioural expectations and create an inclusive, positive learning environment.
- Build strong relationships with students, inspiring and motivating them.
- Prepare students for life beyond school, ensuring their readiness for the future.
Ideal Candidate:
- Secondary or Primary trained with a passion for working with SEND students.
- An understanding of Autism & SEMH, and experience working with students who have special educational needs, either from a mainstream setting or SEND provision.
- Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new teaching strategies.
