A secondary school in Chadderton is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teacher of English to cover a maternity leave from February 2026 through to Christmas 2026. This is a valuable opportunity to join a supportive English department and play a key role in pupils' progress throughout the year.

The Role

• Teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons in line with curriculum expectations
• Maintain an engaging and inclusive classroom environment
• Contribute to departmental planning and wider school initiatives
• Uphold strong behaviour, safeguarding, and pastoral standards
• Work collaboratively with the established English team to ensure continuity during the maternity period

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience delivering English at secondary level
• Strong subject knowledge across English language and literature
• Effective behaviour management and a positive approach to supporting pupil progress
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Willingness to complete all safeguarding and compliance checks prior to starting
