English Teacher & Humanities Teacher - SEMH School, Chester
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: 4 Days per Week (Until Christmas)
We are seeking a passionate English Teacher and Humanities Teacher to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Chester. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic English Teacher and Humanities Teacher to make a real difference to the lives of young people who require additional support.
As an English Teacher and Humanities Teacher, you will work with pupils who have a range of complex needs, typically associated with autism spectrum disorder ASD and social, emotional, or behaviour that challenges. You'll play a key role in helping students re-engage with learning through creative, structured, and supportive teaching.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging English and Humanities lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, literacy, and emotional regulation skills.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure a holistic approach.
- Foster a nurturing classroom environment that promotes progress and positive behaviour.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience as an English Teacher or Humanities Teacher, ideally within an SEMH or SEN setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and a compassionate approach.
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse learning styles and emotional needs.
